The National Union of Education workers and training has confirmed its decision to call an open-ended general strike starting from January 25th in a bid to press for the fulfillment by the relevant authorities of the education workers’ long-neglected socio-professional claims.

A spokesman for the Union told Echorouk that the decision to launch this new strike action was a response to the “empty promises” put forth for a long time now by the education ministerial department.

He said that the education ministry has so far discounted the workers’ bona-fidé claims by adopting a couldn’t-care-less attitude which only exacerbated further the social climate in the education sector

The Union’s spokesman added that the projected open-ended strike meant to involve all schools in the four corners of the country, would last seven days and would be automatically renewed as from January 26th if need be as a means of leverage in order to secure the proper fulfillment of all the education workers’ legitimate claims.
