Education:15,000 employees pursued by prosecutions or imprisonment

National Union of Workers of Education and Training revealed that the staff of the economic services who represent 15,000 employees, are exposed to judicial follow up and prison, due to the financial tasks that are entrusted to them, because they were in charge of conducting 1841 billion dinars.

Head of the National Union of Education and Training Workers, Sadek Dziri told Echorouk, that the staff of economic services, which includes economic services’ assistant, key economic services’ assistant , vice economist, Vice economist manager, economist, major economist, and financial inspector, were deprived of the “pedagogical grant”, that made the difference in wages between Professor ranked in category 13, and an economist like him who received 11,000 dinars, although they are entrusted to carry out “educational” functions, relating to the needy grant and selling school books, especially after they were reintegrated within the branches of Education, in addition to the material and financial tasks that are assigned to them, on the grounds that they are charged with the conduct of 941 billion dinars, which is the budget of conducting the educational institutions budget for the year 2012 , and charged with spending 900 billion dinars for the pedagogical grant, that is normally granted to professors, teachers and educational assistants, although this is category has not the task of teaching. 

Therefore the ministry’s argument is that the economic services’ employees’ are not professors, and have no right to receive the grant which is considered as “flimsy “.

The spokesman added that the economist and financial accountant have two tasks, which are the financial management and accounting, and this is what makes them vulnerable to judicial pursues and prison, and the best example is what happened to the economist of El Bayadh, southern Algeria, which was prosecuted on charges of stealing large sums of money from the office of the money keeper.
