Egyptian Football Federation Vice –President admits the attack on the Algerian bus

The International Football Federation member (FIFA), the Egyptian Hani Abu Reida has declared that the surveillance cameras that accompanied the Algerian national squad in Cairo have confirmed the attack on the Algerian bus and both the Sudanese match’s supervisor Kamel Cheddad as well as FIFA’s envoy mentioned the assault on their reports.

This is the first time that an Egyptian official doesn’t deny the cowardly attack on the Algerian players and is considered as a straightforward acknowledgement from the Egyptians backed by the testimony of FIFA.

The Egyptian Football Federation Vice- President, Abu Reida, had indicated that his country will accept the consequences of this act ahead of the sanctions due to be issued by FIFA in the coming few days.

Talking on the TV program “ Koura with Shoubir”, he has revealed that the Algerian bus was attacked and three players were injured, but this didn’t prevent them to play the match.

He went on saying that high –level negotiations were conducted to convince the Algerian delegation to play the match after the decision taken by the president of the Algerian Football Federation, Mohammed Raouraoua, to come back to Algeria immediately, after the attack.

Abu Reida went on saying that the fact that FIFA has delayed its decision to March was a great achievement for the Egyptian Football Federation, in itself.

He added that the Egyptian media uproar fuelled the controversy in the treatment of Oum Darmen, Khartoum, events during the play off match because the situation was under control inside the stadium.
