Egyptian preacher, Wajdi Ghonim launches a severe attack on art and artists, one day after the meeting, which brought together the new President Mohamed Morsi with the celerities, who were invited to meet him last Thursday at the Presidential Palace, to discuss the main points which raised their concern since he took on governance, as they said he is a supporter of the Muslim Brotherhood in the country. ‬

Sheikh Wajdi Ghonim, who previously led the attack on the star Ilham Shaheen, wrote on his personal Twitter” account that; “Artists who attacked President Morsi in the days of the election campaign are bastards and prostitutes. Is this art? , as he also published a video on YouTube in which he said: What is the name of art, the devil is twisting names and halal with ugly names, and haram with beautiful names, “citing the Quranic verse :” These are only names which you and your fathers has created, not Allah. “

Previously, While some spoke out to the press about the death of the entertainment industry, others literally ran away. The Brotherhood has not exactly been supportive of the scandalous clothing and pre-marital escapades inherent in the industry.

But the times they are changing and new Egyptian president, Mohamed Morsi is clearly looking to get on the good side of his actors and singers. He arranged a ‘special visit’ for the stars this week so they could discuss the entertaintment industry and how it could fit in to the new democratic Egypt.

The Egyptian president called the arts scene a ‘gentle power’ and showed no signs of the kind of disapproval we’ve seen before from Brotherhood leaders. Among the stars that attended were legendary funny man, Adel Emam, actor and comedian Mohammad Subhi, actress Madiha Yusri, singer Mohammad Munir, comedian actor Ashraf Abdel Ghafour, singer Eman Al Bahr Darweesh and actor Karim Abdel Aziz.
