The new strong man of Egypt, who dismissed the Islamist democratically-elected President Mohamed Morsi, said Wednesday before the members of the country’s teaching staff council that the Egyptian army was able to invade Algeria in just three days, reported on Thursday, May 1st the Egyptian news website Al Balad.

“The Egyptian army is strong. It can enter Algeria in three days if a misfortune happens to an Egyptian national in that country”, said Al-Sissi during a meeting with members of a local body of education personnel.

Field Marshal Al-Sissi is a candidate for the presidential election in Egypt planned May 26-27. He apparently was referring to bitter tensions between Algerians and Egyptians during the qualifying phase for the 2010 football world cup tournament.

The vehement row was then sparked off by some disloyal and warmongering Egyptian media outlets which couldn’t accept their team’s clear-cut defeat on a football pitch versus the Algeria side.

In 2009, a serious crisis erupted between Algeria and Egypt following the wanton aggression of players of the Algerian national team in Cairo by frenzied Egyptian supporters, during a qualifying match for the 2010 World cup contest.

Political commentators noted that instead of threatening an Arab country, like peaceful and stable Algeria, Abdel Fatah El Sissi should have instead threatened with military invasion the nearby Zionist state of Israel which has done a lot of harm, up to now, to Egypt and the Egyptian people in all impunity.
