Egypt’s poet passes away
Arab peoples lost their faithful ambassador who had unchangeable principles and noble positions in spite of temptations and sanctions. Brave poet and fighter for freedom Ahmed Fouad Nadjm died on Tuesday in his house in Egypt at the age of 84.
Nadjm is a famous poet in the Arab world. He had been jailed for many times due to his positions towards the government. He entered into political disputes with senior officials in Egypt.

Earlier, Algeria received the late Egyptian poet and he was honored by Echorouk daily newspaper.
He used to criticize Egypt’s former president Mubarek and his poets were used as slogans during the revolution against the regime.
Algerian poets said they are sorry for losing Nadjm who lived in Algeria for few years and married an Algerian artist.
Abdelali Rezagui: “Nadjm was the only Egyptian who defended Algerians during football crisis”
Doctor Abdelali Rezagui told Echorouk Nadjm defended Algeria on many occasions including the football crisis with Egypt.
Poet Slimane Djouadi: “Nadjm is a real popular poet”
“Ahmed Fouad Nadjm is a close friend of mine. I met him when he was living in Algeria. We used to meet at late writer Taher Ouattar’s house. I liked his poems. He was really a popular poet,” said poet Slimane Djouadi.
Zaoui: “We learnt a lot from Nadjm”
“The thing we learnt from Ahmed Fouad Nadjm is how the real intellectual person should be close to people,” Algerian novelist Amine Zaoui told Echorouk.
Azradj: “Nadjm was dreaming of promoting political song as from Algeria”
Poet Omar Azradj said he met Nadjm in Algeria in the 1980’s.
“Nadjm talked to me about the necessity of promoting Arab political songs. I liked his modesty and popular spirit.”
