Eight Million Pupils join schools: Start without Ben Bouzid since 19 years

More than 8 million pupils will join schools on Sunday, but the school year 2012/2013, is “exceptional” because it would be without Abou Bakr Ben Bouzid who served throughout the 19 years as the Minister of Education, in contrast, the new Minister of National Education Baba Ahmed Abdelatif, has ensured a “comfortable” start, due to the protests, which were organized for September, and despite all that, difficult files, will face the new minister, regarding the significant lack in educational framing, especially at the secondary schools, the grave delay in receiving the educational institutions and problem of “overcrowding “in the first year of these schools.

School year 2012 starts without Ben Bouzid since 19 years

This school year will start without Abou Bakr Ben Bouzid, who was the Minister of National Education for almost 19 years, but despite what was said about the dean of Algerian Ministers, he was able to solve many problems and files, especially when he retrieved the file of social services from the central syndicate, and called syndicates of the national education to meet and discuss in order to find the right solution for conducting this file, which funds were frozen since years, especially after resorting to elections to choose the chairman and members of the national, and local committees, and amending the law on the users of the sector.

The new Minister of National Education Baba Ahmed Abdelatif, will give the signal of starting the school year 2012/2013, from Algiers, as he will visit three schools on the first day, starting with the Middle school Mohammed Chouiter in El Biar (Algiers), before moving to the secondary school Rabah Bitat, which belongs to the Directorate of ‭education ‭eastern Algiers, ‭then the primary school Bordj Safari, which belongs to the Directorate ‭of education of western Algiers. ‬

As it is known, heavy and complicated files need to be addressed and settled by Baba Ahmed, including the lack of “administrative framing” especially at the secondary schools, and among the category of teaching assistants, on the grounds that the number of pupils of the first year of secondary school has doubled compared to previous years, because the pupils of the fourth year from the middle schools join the secondary schools.

The minister has also to face the problem of “overcrowding” in the first year of the secondary school in 10 wilayas, because of the high number of pupils, and the terrible delay in the reception of new secondary schools, although that the former ‭minister had ‭confirmed in‭ his last national seminar that 160 new ‭secondary schools will open at the national level, along with 27 secondary schools, which are under construction. ‬ ‮
