Emergency plan to protect Algeria’s borders
Algerian national defense and interior ministries reviewed security forces deployment on borders following repercussions of the war in Libya, rebellion in Northern Mali, terrorist threat from Tunisia, organized crime networks, weapons trade and illegal immigration, Echorouk has learnt.
Algeria’s National Gendarmerie constructed new watchtowers along borders to reactivate constant surveillance as part of an emergency plan for borders protection. Ditches were also dug to prevent smuggling of weapons and drug.
