European universities refuse internship for Algerian professors
A group of university professors, who prepared for doctoral dissertations, collided with the rejecting of European universities, which refused to give them the letters of messages of reception, that enable them to make short-term training at the research centers and institutes, a procedure that has bedeviled Algerian researchers, who were counting on this internship to develop their knowledge and expedite the completion of their theses.
A group of professors at universities of the west of the country, like Oran, Sidi Bel Abbes, Mostaganem, Chlef, told Echorouk that they contacted European universities and submitted applications via e-mail, to get the messages of reception, for short term internship, but these applications were rejected, wondering about the motives behind this decision, especially since the Algerian university, is responsible of covering expenses of this internship, providing travel by plane ticket, plus a grant with Euros regarding costs of accommodation and catering for teachers who are enrolled in the Ph.D. and has not yet discussed their theses, while the mission of foreign universities is receiving and guiding the researchers, allowing them to see the references in libraries, attend meetings and seminars which they organized.
In this context, a professors said he despaired of correspondence with the French universities, especially those located in Paris, after all his e-mails letters were ignored, while research centers and other institutions stipulated providing the title of the research and edit a summary thereof, but they did not granted internships.
These practices prompted much of teachers to manage the compass towards Arab universities, especially the Moroccan and Tunisian, which provided long-term internship for the benefit of Algerian teachers, with an duration of 18 months, and the Ministry of Higher Education and Scientific Research, has raised during the new season of university, the financial value of a grant of internship in PHD candidates, in order to make internships abroad, enabling them to develop their knowledge and benefit from foreign expertise.
