Evangelization cells to blur national personality in Algeria: minister

Evangelization cells to blur national personality in Algeria: minister
Algerian Religious Affairs Minister Bouabdellah Ghoulamellah

Algerian Religious Affairs Minister Bouabdellah Ghoulamellah criticized what he described “over mediation” which characterized talk about evangelization campaigns in Algeria. He considered that actions as being in the service of those who stand behind this phenomenon. He said that evangelization in Algeria goes beyond religious dimension to the national one for well known causes.

  •
  •
  • He explained that raising this issue as done by the press does not serve national interests. He called for not giving this issue more than deserved.
  •
  • Asked by a PM about the effects of the evangelization, Ghoulamellah explained that this phenomenon is among destructive acts he described as “bees.” They use religion to achieve their purposes, just as what happened with terrorist groups.
  • He pointed out that the aims of those behind evangelization campaigns resemble those of terrorists.  He confirmed that the Algerian government will destroy that by “fortifying Algerians and urging them to uphold their religion and traditions within a national speech that would protect the society from any stream or social and religious rift.”  Just as they face the phenomenon of terrorism and stop it.
  •
  • He denied any Algerian converting from Islam to Christianity saying “ bring me one person who has converted to Christianity in Mascara.”  He acknowledged what he described as “ some of the Christianity nests” in certain regions of the homeland but he did not name any.
  •  He interpreted them as “some bees attempts, can not be described as spreading Christianity as known but some Algerians rebellion against reality who refuse to admit it . They are supported by some parties which seek to exploit this situation in order to frustrate the citizens’ morale and create confusion between them.”
  • He added that this can not be regarded as hostility to Islam but to our country. “They will never succeed to harm Islam because it is blessed by Allah.”
