Exclusive: Algerian mediator in the Malian crisis
Malian Touareg rebels

Abdelkrim Gharib, Algerian ambassador in Mali and mediator in the crisis between the Malian government and the Touareg tribes’ leaders, talked about a meeting between representatives of Bamako government and the Touareg rebels in the 28th of next August in Algiers.

  • He told Echorouk on Sunday, that this meeting will be an opportunity to assess the stages of implementing Algiers agreement and other pending files, in the presence of Algerian mediators, considering it an important step to stop the Malian crisis, on the background of 21 military Touareg rebels’ release, after the Algerian mediator’s request.
  • Algerian ambassador in Mali said Algeria asked the opponents to lead an initiative, to express their good intentions in solving the problem, and they did so, through releasing the rebels”.
  • It is expected that the files, which were raised at the meeting of the 21st of July, will be presented by Abdelkrim Garib, in addition to the mediation negotiations’ results
