Fake cosmetics and pharmaceutical products inundate Algerian market
The national gendarmerie units seized an important quantity of expired cosmetics and pharmaceutical products brought in from the eastern and western borders to inundate the Algerian market between the period of January and February of this year
These counterfeited, which slipped through the control of the sanitary services, have caused several healthy problems to their users who were attracted by the low prices
The borders’ guards and the national gendarmerie seized nearly 40 thousand units of cosmetics products and 4,028 units of pharmaceutical products over the year 2007, mostly in the southern borders. Estimates reveal that the smuggled products increased by 18.88% in comparison with 2006.
On the other hand, sources from the national gendarmerie revealed that two containers loaded with cosmetics, smuggled from China via Dubai to reach the Algerian soil, have been seized during the same year.
