Families of Algerian detainees in Iraq launch an SOS to the Algerian authorities.

In a declaration to Echourouk , the brother of one of the Algerian detainees in Iraq Tarek Rif has asserted that contact with him had been cut days before the execution of the prisoner Abdellah Belhadi.

• He went on saying that his mother’s health is deteriorating and is crying non stop for fear that her son would be executed “ We are living on our nerves since the execution of one of the detainees”, he said.

• A number of Algerian prisoners have declared to Echourouk that the Iraqi authorities have recently denied them contacts by telephone with their families through the International Red Cross.

• The family of Tarek Rif, who lives in the working-class compound of Baraki, Algiers suburbs, expressed its utmost worries over his execution by the Iraqi authorities.

• The brother of Ouabad Mohammed, the Algerian prisoner who has been executed recently, has indicated to Echourouk that the last time they contacted him he informed them that a number of Iraqi officers took revenge on the Algerians who made declarations to the media.

• The prisoner’s brother has called on the Algerian authorities to intervene at earliest in the case of the other detainees , especially that one of them is still minor, according to him.

• This prisoner, he added, entered the Iraqi soil through the borders and has nothing to do with terrorist activities, noting that the minor was tried and sentenced to 11 years, while his family is not aware about that.

• The brother of another prisoner from the province of Bourdj Bou Aareridj, eastern Algeria, has indicated that his brother was transferred to a prison in southern Iraqi because of declarations he made to the media.
