Ferries to reduce traffic jams in Algiers
National Gendarmerie services have forwarded a brand new suggestion to the transportation minister which consists in the use of ferries for commuters along the municipalities located on the seafront in order to reduce traffic jams.
The head of road safety department at the national gendarmerie command, Colonel Salah Mellak has indicated to Echouoruk that one of the suggestions that has been forwarded to the transportation minister to reduce road accidents, is the resort to ferries as a means of transportation all along the municipalities located on the seafront, following the example of the developed countries.
Talking on the sidelines of a presentation of the annual assessment of rod accidents, the colonel has indicated that the use of ferries as means of transportation on the axis Ain Benian – Tafourah station or Tafourah – Ain Taya, passing through Bourdj El –Kiffan will significantly the traffic jam and relieve pressure over the capital city.
