“Flintlock 2010 military maneuvers wrap up in northern Ouagadougou”
The Flintlock 2010 operation, which is the last in a series of US-led military maneuvers in Africa, wound up today in the northern part of Ouagadougou in Burkina Fasso with the involvement of around 1200 soldiers from several countries.

The operation designed to beef up and coordinate the struggle against terrorism in the region was led by Anthony Holes, deputy commander of the US military command for Africa (AFRICOM) based in Stuttgart Germany.

The operation brought together troops from Burkina Fasso, Mali, Niger, Algeria, Morocco, Mauritania, Nigeria, Senegal, Chad and Tunisia.

These military exercises kicked off on May 3rd and wrapped up on May 22nd with tangible results as part of the reinforcement of security and peace in the whole region with a particular focus on the fight against the terrorism scourge.

These military maneuvers involved 1.200 soldiers: 600 from the special US forces including Marines, 400 from various African armies and 150 others from European countries notably from France and the United Kingdom.
