The striking comeback on the national political scene of the former head of government and former secretary general of the FLN Party, Abdellaziz Belkhadem, through his uproarious intrusion on the stage during a recent FLN Party militants’ rally in upper Algiers, has prompted political and media circles to wonder about Belkhadem’s still undeclared political projects in connection with the upcoming Presidential polls slated for mid-April 2014.

Invited to the recent FLN party rally like all the FLN central committee members, Abdellaziz Belkhadem showed up and seized the opportunity of the meeting to declare his support for President Abdellaziz Bouteflika’s fourth mandate if the latter overtly announces his intention to run in the forthcoming elections.

Political commentators don’t rule out the idea of seeing Abdellaziz Belkhadem stand as candidate himself for the next Presidential elections in case incumbent Bouteflika decides not to vie for a fourth Presidential term.

In a statement to the Press, Abdellaziz Belkhadem severely castigated his bitter foes within the FLN Party with on prime focus current party leader Amar Saâdani and the coordinator of the readjustment splinter movement Abdelkrim Abada saying that they had messed up things within the party.

Abdellaziz Belkhadem also hit back at Amar Saâdani’s excoriating statement earlier this week, stressing that the latter had no right to preclude him from standing for a possible return to the helm of the party through a fair and transparent election involving all the central committee members.

Abdellaziz Belkhadem also pointed out that Saâdani had no political credibility, adding that the situation within the FLN Party had further worsened in the aftermath of his forced departure.
