Parties in the National Liberation Front (FLN), expressed their hope to see President Bouteflika intervene, with his power as the honorary president of the party, to propose the name of someone to choose him as Secretary General of the party, to succeed the ousted SG Abdelaziz Belkhadem.

Former tourism minister and a member of the Central Committee, Mohammad Saghir Kara said; “We wait the step of President Bouteflika, to guide us to the name that he accepted, because we consider it as a contribution to the reduction of the age of the current transitional phase.”
The old party is living on the impact of conflict between members of the Central Committee, since last week end, on the name of the person that will succeed Belkhadem, while the name of the Vice President of the National Assembly, Senator Abderrazak Bouhara, was proposed, as a candidate who enjoys acceptance of the majority of the members of the Central Committee, which is the body that can elect a person to fill the vacuum in the leadership of the party, but the coordinator of the movement of reform and rooting (former), Abdelkarim Abada, appears to deny any agreement on any name.
Kara justifies this position by saying: “President Bouteflika is the honorary president of the party. If this job does not necessarily mean interference in regulatory matters, it does not preclude his proposal to a given a name. I think that such initiative, is capable of avoiding the occurrence of conflict between sons of the party, which may lead to the threat of its unity.”
The spokesman warned of continuing state of division that the Central Committee is living, and the possibility of exploiting this fact by lobbies that permeated in the joints of the party in recent years, saying: “The lobby of corrupt money will, without a doubt do its best to use its money, to deepen the conflict between the sons of the party, and everyone should fight against it.”
