FLN wings deny agreement on one candidate
All conflicting wings at FLN party agreed that the issue of the succession of the former secretary general, Abdelaziz Belkhadem, is still frozen, denying agreement on any candidate as media talk claimed.
Media had proposed the name of the former head of the national popular council, Ammar Saidani, as the most important candidate to lead FLN party, after confirmation that the man gained agreement of the majority of the central committee’s members, who have the power to elect the new general secretary.
Saidani is considered one of the personalities which avoid political confrontation, therefore he made it hard for the central committee, and observers to the matters of the most powerful political party in Algeria, to determine the man’s position and choose him among all the conflicting wings inside the old party.
Some parties consider Saidani as one of those close to the ousted secretary general, to the extent of leaking information that provide that Belkhadem wished after pulling confidence from him, that Saidani will succeed him, but the other wings inside FLN think that Saidani is a person that knows well how to choose the right place and time to appear.
