Football fans rioting: “20 vehicles destroyed and 15 women assaulted in upper Algiers”
The security services have brought 47 supporters of two Algiers football teams namely RC Kouba and NAHD Hussein Dey before the General Prosecutor of Hussein Dey tribunal following last Friday's street riots which jolted the district of Kouba on the heights of the capital Algiers.

- It should be noted that these young people aged between 15 and 26 attacked the press house and nearly provoked untold damage to the premises of the newspaper Echorouk and its staff.
- The arrested youngsters who had gone on the rampage for several hours in several parts of the district of Kouba are now facing before the tribunal charges of theft, destruction of public and private property, serious breaches of public order and possession of knives, iron-bars and Molotov cocktails which they used in their assaults on security forces and peaceful citizens.
- During the widespread rioting, 20 vehicles including 5 belonging to the police and one lorry belonging to the newspaper Echorouk were set ablaze near the press house and at least 15 women who were passing by in the area were assaulted and seriously injured.
- Their vehicles were stoned and seriously damaged by the frenzied rioters.
