Football: Former Algeria Coach Mahieddine Khalef Rallies National Team Fans

Former Algerian national team coach Mahieddine Khalef has called on all the fans of the Fennecs to help the Algerian national team with vocal support during their upcoming World Cup qualifier in Blida on June 7 versus Egypt.

  • Mahieddine Khalef recently gave an interview to the Amazigh-speaking channel II of the national radio in which he claimed that fan support was crucial to the Greens’ chances of winning their upcoming World Cup qualifier versus continental champions Egypt.

“The Egyptians have a terrible fear of the Algerian public and the immense pressure it can put them under. Our supporters must stay behind the national team until the final whistle,” he asserted.

“The June 7 match presents itself badly for the Egyptians who, since their draw versus Zambia, have lost some assurance.

  •  They’re not calm whereas our players are preparing seriously and in serenity for a match they want to win at all costs. We have to capitalise upon this situation to beat them.”

Algeria drew their first match of World Cup qualifying versus Rwanda in Kigali on March 28 and are desperately seeking a victory at home before they travel to Zambia to face the Copper Bullets on June 20.
