Football: French Carteron proposed to be Algeria new coach
The name of Mali former coach Patrice Carteron is proposed to coach Algeria succeeding Georges Leekens. This comes following the national team’s elimination from the African Cup of Nations.
All it seems that the President of the Algerian Football Federation Mohamed Raouraoua wants to appoint a “competent and great” coach. Fans showed anger over Algeria’s weak performance during the African competition.
The coach would take its first test in the African Cup of Nations qualifiers due to be held in Cameron in 2019. A match will be played against Togo in June.
Algeria is also expected to play against Zambia as part of the World Cup qualifiers 2018 in Russia in August.
Echorouk has learnt that Raouraoua wants not to repeat the same mistakes. Because of that, he seeks to appoint a coach who has already worked with African teams. His name should also be known by football followers in Algeria and Africa.
In 2013, French Carteron trained Mali in the African Cup of Nations in South Africa. His players showed an honourable performance.
Many African clubs want to sign a deal with the French coach who is without any team.
