Football/ French coach Simondi clash with ES Setif leading staff over staggering benefits

The so-called “Simondi affair” involving French coach Bernard Simondi and the leading staff of the Algerian first- division football squad of ES Setif is still hitting the headlines with no breakthrough in store for the time being.

•  After the recent recruitment of Azzedine Ait Djoudi as chief coach of ES Setif, the row between Simondi who is now forced to take a back seat in the coaching, and the club has worsened according to Abdelhamid Serrar, the club’s president.

• According to him, Simondi has been demanding a staggering financial package covering a 12 month salary as compensation, in addition to a plot of land destined to his personal use in the province of Setif.

• The ES Setif boss indicated that there was evidence that Bernard Simondi was being prodded to take a diehard position regarding his contract obligations with ES Setif by some shadowy circles hostile to the club.
