Former Algerian football star Rabah Madjer has said that the current national coach Rabah Saâdane has inherited a moribund national football team and that he should not be held accountable for the squad’s dismal performances.

Madjer said that a very difficult qualifying match was awaiting the “Greens” on September 5th 2008 versus the tough national squad of Senegal in Blida stadium as part of the combined 2010 African and World Cup competition.

He expressed the hope that everyone would give a sincere helping hand to Saâdane to allow the Algerian national line – up wrench a qualification for the second round of the competition.

He further discounted reports about his planned return to the Algerian football scene, stressing that he would come back only when the conditions are ripe while reiterating his entire availability to give his unsparing contribution to the revival of Algerian football if he was requested officially to do so.

Rabah Madjer finally confirmed his intention to return soon to his consultancy post at the Qatari sports Channel of Al Jazeera after receiving a formal request from the Channel’s top managers who offered him a new attractive contract.

He finally indicated that he would join again the Al Jazeera Channel in Doha after a short trip to Portugal where he will settle some administrative issues.
