For These Reasons, The Arab Summit Due In Algeria was Put Off

Diplomatic sources revealed that the postponement of the Arab summit, which was scheduled in Algeria, has nothing to do with the “Corona” disease that is jolting the world, but rather is linked to a strict Algerian position on some outstanding Arab issues, foremost of which is Syria’s frozen membership of the Arab League.

“The Algerian state that will host this summit does not want it faded and empty of content, during which the participants often fall in deep sleep like most, if not all of the previous summits … but the president of the republic Mr. Tebboune postponed the upcoming summit that is meant to lead to the return of Syria to the Arab League and the Arab Summit Fold, and to restore balance in joint Arab action, according to Rai El Youm newspaper.

The Secretary-General of the Arab League, Ahmed Abou El Gheit, confirmed this at the press conference, which he jointly held last week in Algiers with Algerian Foreign Minister Sabri Boukadoum, stressing that Algeria and Arab countries wish to return Syria to the fold of the Arab League.

According to the same source, Algeria considers that the domination of some countries over the Arab League must be ended, as they were involved in plunging most Arab countries into bloody wars, and the source here refers to Syria, Libya, Yemen and Iraq in particular.

In a related context, the same newspaper sees that “Algeria is regaining its pivotal role in the Arab and international arenas, after a long stalling period, and has not emerged from all equations for more than ten years due to the state of paralysis and impotence under its previous warped leadership, coupled with the local corruption mafia’s control of its internal and regional political decisions.” as it put it.

The editorialist of the London-based newspaper “Rai El Youm”, went on to believe that “the Algerian recovery at all levels indicates a strong return of Algerian diplomacy, which lacked joint Arab action, and is now geared to correcting the mistake of the years of the domination of Gulf money, in collusion with the United States in destroying the joint Arab project and striking its main centers, and opening doors of the region wide open for non-Arab projects, the most prominent of which is the blameworthy Israeli project”.

“The flurry of leaders and ministers of Arab, regional and international countries to the Algerian capital these days, foreshadows an upcoming phase of change that will start this time from the Maghreb Union, and it is expected that they will lead to positive breakthroughs in many thorny issues such as the Syrian, Libyan, Yemeni, and Palestinian files, of course.” “Algeria, the newspaper adds, was and still is a valiant people with a clear-sighted a leadership, standing firmly with the Palestinian cause as a compass of Arab and Islamic dignity”.

According to the same source, “President Tebboune’s recent official visit to Riyadh was aimed at ending the state of rift in the joint Arab action, and to reunite again, shake the dust of neglect from the Arab League, activate the Arab Summits Foundation, as well to inject responsibility blood into its frozen arteries, and end the adverse role of the Arab League as a tool for Western and American intervention projects in particular, in Arab internal affairs, sowing seeds of discord and civil wars.
