Former Moroccan prime minister: Boudiaf’s wife was against his comeback to Algeria
The schoolmate of the late Moroccan king Hassen II and former prime minister as well as president of the parliament during the period 1984- 1992 , Ahmed Asman has revealed in his memoirs historical facts concerning the relationships between the king and the Algerian presidents including Houari Boumediene and Mohamed Boudiaf as well as with the former Libyan leader Moamar Al Qadafi.
In parts of his memoirs released by some Moroccan media, Ahmed Asman has suggested that the wife of the late Algerian president Mohamed Boudiaf was contacting him on regular basis before his comeback to his home country Algeria.
She has requested him to convince the Moroccan king Hassen II to dissuade her husband from returning to Algeria because she was certain that they will kill him upon his comeback, and this is what happened. He added.
Replying to the question whether Algeria had a hand in the various coup to topple the former king, Ahmed Asman has declared” Unfortunately, among the Algerian presidents that plotted against Morocco, there were Houari Boumediene and Abdelaziz Bouteflika; both of them were brought up in Morocco”.
He went saying concerning the return of Mohamed Boudiaf to Algeria” I was chairing one of the parliamentarian sessions and was informed by Al Mekhazni that Boudiaf wanted to see me… Actually, he came to say goodbye and was not aware that he was not leaving Morocco only, but life as well”.
The former Moroccan king’s childhood friend has lambasted the former Libyan leader Moammar Al Qadafi branding him” mad man”, adding” he was insulting Morocco and other Arab countries during formal meetings”.
