France recognizes its nuclear tests in Algeria and neglects radiation

A document on the draft law about addressing the health consequences of the French nuclear tests and approval of compensation by the French Defence Ministry revealed that France completely neglected the effects of the its nuclear tests on the Algerian Sahar’s inhabitant and environment because it limited the damages only on people who were living there, without taking into account the development of the nuclear radiation inside and outside the region, particularly since there are groups of nomads travel a lot.

  • The draft law also includes five articles. It confirms that people who are covered by compensation are those who lived in the desert between 13 February 1960 and 31 December 1961, and between 7 November and 31 December 1967.
  •
  • This draft law was prepared in coordination of the Ministry of Defence, Presidency, and PM, the Ministry of Finance and Ministry of Public Services which recognized the French nuclear tests in Algeria even after its independence.
