French press ignored the visit paid by French Foreign Affairs minister Bernard Kouchner Monday.Except the French news agency and public TV channels, the political event did not take so much importance to be at newspapers’ front pages.

The visit carried a big background in the light of anti-Jewish lobby remarks of Algerian War Veterans Minister Cherif Abbas.

Kouchner’s political visit focused on the project of the Mediterranean Union project.

On a visit paid by Nicolas Sarkozy after he had been elected as France’ president, media talked about Algeria’s absolute and unconditional support to France as part of the project without knowing its contents.

On the other hand, Algeria has won a lot of time before expressing a final position towards the project. That helped it to know more the project contents and carry out negotiations on eminent positions in it before supporting it.

According to a source at the Algerian embassy in France, events are occurring in a speedy way. “Because of that, the Algerian and French sides must go forward and seek cooperation means in political and security field.”
