French Prime Minister: I was surprised by Bouteflika’s good command of issues

France’s Prime Minister Jean-Marc Ayrault said he found that Algerian President Abdelaziz Bouteflika’s health is good and he follows well all the issues. I am very impressed by Bouteflika’s level of following up issues, French newspaper Le Parisien reported citing Ayrault.

The French Prime Minister said he met Bouteflika for 45 minutes and noticed that the Algerian president recovered from his illness braver.

“Bouteflika was very meticulous in following up all the issues. I was surprised by the level at which the President is following up issues,” said le Parisien.

According to Ayrault, Algeria blessed the French military intervention in Mali. “Bouteflika told me you must be proud of what u did in Mali,” he said.

All it seems that Ayrault’s remarks would give an image for the West about the next presidential elections due to be in Algeria in April and President Bouteflika’s ability to run for a fourth term.

Earlier, French President François Hollande told France 24 the elections constitute a domestic affair which would be decided by Algerian people on time.

He did not make comments about Bouteflika’s illness. This is seen as a positive sign of good relations between the President and power in France.

The showed US satisfaction about Algeria through American officials regarding its place as a partner in the fight against terrorism.   US Secretary of State John Kerry is expected to pay a visit to Algiers in January.

This French and American satisfaction comes as opposition parties want Bouteflika not to run for office due to his health conditions.
