G-14 want to establish a front against the constitutional amendment for the extension of the presidential term, as its members announce in a consultative meeting their complete rejection to make any amendment to the Constitution before the organization of the presidential elections, claiming that it is an immoral and unconstitutional conduct, as some of them suggested the escalation to revoke this project.

G-14, which includes political parties as well as the National Organization for the Defense of Memory and Sovereignty, met to discuss the general political situation, which is characterized with the lack of clarity, as the hypothesis of amending the constitution to extend the presidential term was among the most important points that dominated the debate.

President of the Youth Democratic Front for Citizenship, Ahmed Guouraia,, told Echorouk, that the members of the group discussed very sensitive topics, related to the amendment of the Constitution, adding that all of them agreed on rejecting this move and refusing to condemn it, and considered it vain in basic law of the country and a detraction from the value of the state, claiming that the amendment coincides with the end of the presidential term.

The spokesman said that his party opposed the amendment, “because the president could have run for a fourth term if he wanted to, and the people should have a position too”.
