Gaid Salah: “Algeria’s Security Is A Red Line Not To Be Trespassed”

 General Ahmed Gaïd Salah, Chief of Staff of the National People’s Army and Deputy Minister of National Defense, said on Sunday that Algeria is a “red line” to which it is “out of the question” to touch.

“Algeria is a red line, we have insisted many times, and we remind it today, that it is absolutely out of the question to affect its security or the resources of its people,” warned the ANP Chief of Staff in an address delivered Sunday before the military personnel in Constantine province (eastern Algeria), quoted by the Ministry of National Defense in a statement.

“Algeria, which suffered the harsh yoke of colonialism, and whose people have sworn an oath, under the eyes of their enemy, to wage a global and unanimous Popular Revolution, bringing out the cream of its lofty children in terms of Chouhada (Martyrs)  and Mujahideen (Freedom Fighters), ultimately snatched freedom and independence after immense human sacrifices”, he stressed.

“It is the duty of the country’s sons today, especially those of the National People’s Army, and all the other security bodies to follow on the same steps and to take the same national path,” added General Gaid Salah, who undertook on Sunday  a working and inspection visit to the 5th Military region in eastern Constantine province.

“Given the importance we attach to our national history, and to the values ​​of its glorious November Revolution, we pursue, through the will of Allah the Almighty, our eternal path towards securing, protecting and unifying the Algerian national territory,” said the Deputy Minister of National Defense.

“It must stressed that  every inch of the land of our country has a deep root in national history, in every national event, and every heroic epic or historical station has its geographical space marked and is to be conjugated between history and geography,” he  further underlined.

Moreover, in the framework of the relentless fight against terrorism, General Gaïd Salah confirmed that “the main and imminent objective” for the National People’s Army is to stamp out “definitely this scourge which is taking on several new forms through new technologies and social networks”.

“This requires more sustained efforts to dry up its nefarious ideological sources and social environment and destroy its communication networks. For this, we will definitely, with the help of Allah The Almighty, rid of our country of this horde of criminals,” the ANP chief of staff underscored to this effect.
