Maj. Gen. Ahmed Gaid Salah, Deputy Minister of National Defense, Chief of Staff of the National People’s Army, called on the army units to maintain operational readiness at the required level, in order to achieve the desired results both in counter terrorism and organized crime, or in carrying out the main tasks that are entrusted to it and to protect the country and its borders of all security, social and economic risks.
During a working visit and inspection of his commanders to the fourth military area of Ourgla (Southern Algeria), on Saturday, to examine the implementation of the program of the year 2017/2018, and to determine the operational readiness of the units of the National People’s Army that are stationed on the border, he started by the operational sector southeast of Djanet, Together with the Maj. Gen. Abderazzak Cherif, commander of the fourth military area, where the Maj. Gen. Ahmed Gaid Salah inspected several units of the sector that are stationed on the southeastern border of our country, and where he was briefed on the working conditions and living conditions of the officials and members of these units, and attended a real shooting exercise that was carried out by one of the sector’s units.
Maj. Gen. Gaid Salah asserted the need to make real assessments of all efforts, especially for the conduct of various tactical exercises, levels and objectives, because the exercise is a real field test of combat preparation, allowing testing of the quality of the used equipment and the control of individuals.
“Exercising also allows, essentially, to measure the degree of battle management in its experimental image that is very close to the truth”, he added.
“The visit comes in the continuous context of the field visits that are carried out by the Chief of Staff of the National People’s Army, in order to examine the implementation of the program of the year of preparation for combat 2017/2018, and to determine the operational readiness of the units of the National Army that are located on the border”, a statement of the Defense Ministry, which copy is available to Echorouk, said.
