Gaid Salah: “They Want An Army Without Historical Depth Aligned With Their Puppets’ Perverted Interests”

The Deputy Minister of National Defense, Chief of Staff of the National People’s Army (ANP), Lieutenant General Ahmed Gaïd Salah, said Thursday in Biskra, south-eastern Algeria,  that all measures have been taken for the success of the ongoing electoral process,  while hailing the Algerian people’s “commitment” to their army and their “determination” to move towards the presidential election on 12th December 2019, according to a statement released by the Ministry of National Defense (MDN).

“The High Command of the ANP “ensured that the legitimate and urgent popular demands, which are the basis for peaceful, civilized popular marches and which take into account the supreme interest of the country, are met”, Gaid Salah said.

“To this end, all the appropriate measures to preserve the Algerian people’s security and stability and the Algerian State and its vital institutions’ reputation and sustainability have been taken, up to the stage of holding presidential elections,” he stressed in a keynote speech delivered on the third day of his visit to the 4th Military Region.

For the success of these elections, the Deputy Minister of National Defense argued that “all security measures for all stages of the electoral process have been taken, in addition to legal measures to protect the voice of the citizen and preserve the constitutional character of this important national process”.

Recalling that the High Command of the ANP has “tirelessly” ensured the satisfaction of the popular demands “legitimate and urgent, at the origin of the peaceful, civilized popular marches which take into account the supreme interest of the country”, Gaïd Salah also affirmed that “all appropriate measures” to preserve the security and stability of the Algerian people and the Algerian State and its vital institutions their notoriety and sustainability have been taken.

“We are well aware that the clear positions that the Algerian people never cease to have towards their army are constant positions because they emanate from their deep conscience and their common sense, which is never wrong, that the ANP has been, from the beginning, driven by good intentions and noble objectives, by accompanying their people in their peaceful and civilized marches, an accompaniment during which the High Command has ensured that all conditions of security, protection and prevention are met,”, he stated.

Mr. Gaïd Salah further underlined that Algeria’s independence “will forever remain in the throats” of its enemies and that the ANP will remain “the worthy heir” of the National Liberation Army and that “the November trend will stain the new Algeria and its strong and rooted State with its colours”.

“The struggle, through the concept and thought derived from the very essence of the glorious Revolution of Liberation, is a continuous action and a sustained process, hence the importance for generations of independence, especially young people, to fully understand that the independence whose gleam gushed out through the November 1954 generation will forever stand in the way of the enemies of yesterday and their servants of today, because they have never digested Algeria’s independence, and have always wanted it to be independent in appearance only,” he stressed.

The Deputy Minister of National Defense stated, in this context, that “the incense of November Algeria in spirit and appearance stifles these enemies, because their lives, interests and future can only be realized in an Algeria that denies its history and language, an Algeria that rejects its religion and betrays its authentic national values”.

“When they saw on the ground the good and firm will of the High Command of the ANP and that it is entirely on the side of its people and its homeland, with all that the term patriotism can have as meaning, they rose up, pouring their hostility towards the Algerian people and their army,” he added.

According to Lieutenant General Ahmed Gaïd Salah, Algeria’s enemies “have forgotten that the main force on which our Army is based is the people’s strength and will, as well as the consciousness of the Algerian people, known for its insight, that it is, on the one hand, the strategic depth of the ANP and the breeding ground from which it comes and, on the other hand, that the Army has no other objective than to serve it”.

He recalled, in this regard, that the ANP is “the worthy heir of the National Liberation Army (ALN), and it is precisely this sacred bond that has greatly disturbed these enemies”.

“They want an army without historical depth so that they can use it according to their interests and rally it to their perverted and treacherous objectives and intentions. This is the real and underlying cause of their hostility towards the ANP and its Mujahideen command to sincere and salutary November Revolution sources,” he explained.

“Just as yesterday’s November Revolution defeated its tyrannical enemy, through sincerity, dedication and determination to achieve the objectives, the Algerian people will triumph, along with their army, over the  gang’s relays, and November’s values will be anchored and imbued in people’s minds and the November  trend will color new Algeria and its strong and rooted state with its colors,” Gaid Salah emphasized.

“This is the challenge that we will take up, thanks to Allah the Almighty, to the great displeasure of the colonialists who do not appreciate in any way this sincere national adherence to the National People’s Army,” he said, stressing that this adherence “strongly affirms the constant and resolute determination of the Algerian people to move towards the presidential elections of 12 December 2019, in which they naturally see the only outcome to these particular circumstances facing Algeria”.

“We are now clearly distinguishing between those who want Algeria to get out of the situation and those who want it to fall into the trap of a deadlock with all the disastrous and dangerous consequences that can result,”  underscored the Chief of Staff of the ANP.

In this context, the Lieutenant General finally stressed that Algeria, “just as the children of the November Revolution were responsible yesterday, needs today who is responsible for it”, arguing that Algeria’s actions “will not be doomed today, as they were not yesterday, because the brave generation of independence is of the same caliber as the brave men of the November 1954 glorious Revolution”.
