Gaid Saleh conveys Bouteflika’s message to army
Algeria’s Army Chief of Staff General Ahmed Gaid Salah conveyed a message from President Abdelaziz Bouteflika to all the armed forces urging them to preserve security and stability and protect the country’s sovereignty.
According to senior officers, the messgae included strict warnings against hitting Algeria’s sovereignty and integrity. The president stressed the necessity of fighting terrorism and dismantle its networks.
Gaid Saleh gave new instructions to the army command to step up security measures in cities and borders as he received a comprehensive and detailed presenttaion about security situation in the country and on borders.
Earlier, a meeting was held between President Bouteflika and the Army Chief of Staff who came up with a new security plan based on tracking terrorists in big cities and all the Algerian borders.
The army forces and other security units Tuesday launched a large military operation in all the areas of the country to target remaining terrorists.
According to the same sources, the army commands backed its forces with huge and unprecendented counterterrorism units.
