General Directorate of Taxation to start its new mission
Algerian Minister of Finance, Abdelkrime Djoudi, asked seventeen Algerian banks, including six public and eleven private banks to present all the data and banking documents of companies and clients for tax agents and inspectors because the new tax law gives them the right to do so.

Order by the Ministry of Finance came after complaints by the General Directorate of Taxation; “Our agents can’t work because they found difficulties. When asked for data and banking documents they were told that they are secret”.

Committees of inspection, belonging to the General Directorate of Taxation were obliged to adopt new techniques and methods relying on “tricks” in order to stop any attempt by dealers to flee from paying taxes, and use a new inspection strategy based on surprising inspection in order to combat tax evasion.

This campaign by the Ministry of Finance is an application of the new tax law which gives power for tax agents to carry out thorough inspection of peoples properties through inspecting their bank accounts.
