Giggs sets up confrontation with United team-mate Ronaldo after hitting out at 'greedy' players
Ryan Giggs

Manchester United legend Ryan Giggs has set himself on a collision course with team-mate Cristiano Ronaldo after hitting out at footballers who sell their soul to the highest bidder.

The Welshman, 34, has played at United for his entire career and insists he has never considered leaving Old Trafford to earn more money playing for another team, reports The Sun.

Ronaldo has been courted by Real Madrid all summer but the Portuguese star has refused to commit himself to United and has even hinted he would like a move to the Bernabeu as the saga rolls on.

But Giggs said: ‘Many players want to make as much money as they can and change teams for ten grand.

‘How is that going to make much difference to their lives?

‘Foreign players always have their home somewhere else, so they are going to have their eyes on going back.

‘But for the likes of me, Gary Neville and Paul Scholes, this is our home.’

The winger also slammed players’ agents for hiking up the price of big-money transfers.

‘If you get those players on their own they are good lads,’ he said.

‘So a lot of the blame has to go on their advisors and agents who make a lot of money out of these deals and don’t have the interests of the player at heart.

‘Maybe one day I’ll regret it but at the moment I feel very happy I’ve stayed here.’
