Government Allocates $6 b to Realize Tramway Projects in 14 Cities
Government allocates more than 447 billion dinars ($ 6 billion) to create tramways in 14 cities, as seven million passengers used Algiers tramway between May 2011 and June 2012, General Manager of Algiers Metro, Amr Hadbi said.
APS quoted Amr Hadbi as saying; “Efforts to modernize public transport focused on the introduction of this new style of transportation to several cities, in order to provide modern and efficient public transport. Several projects were launched, while other planned projects will be launched soon”.
“Third part of the tramway will extend to an Algiers neighborhood “Dergana” and is realized at a good pace.part will be launched on May 2013. Works progressed by 30%. We have faced many obstacles related tolocated on the houses which are located on the way. We’ve settled them by 95%. We have programmed two projects for this line, from Madoumine station to Bir Mourad Rais along 4.6 km, and from Bir Mourad Rais to Draria. Deals for studying the two projects have been granted, and works for the realization of the first project will be launched on January 2014″.
