Government to increase grants by the end of February

Algerian Government allocated 330b dinars in order to cover the lifting of grants for people in need under the national solidarity, Djamel Ben Sennane, Director of the National Agency for Social Development say.  

• “The grants will reach 3000 dinars by the end of February, after citizens claim the previous grant not sufficient in light of the purchasing capacity’s retreat particularly after the reduction of the dinar’s value in December 2008,” he added.

• “Poor people will benefit from this increase beginning of the 28 February. The decision will include three Algerian categories, elders who have no permanent income and grant, people with disabilities less than 100%, and widows who have children with no grant or income”.

• The number of people who will benefit from this grant is 750.000 poor people.
