Abdelmalek Droudkel, national leader of Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb.

The four senior operatives in the Salafist Group for Preaching and Combat (GSPC) the United States sought to freeze their assets do not have money abroad, according to reliable sources.

  • “It is impossible for them to transfer money through Algerian banks to foreign ones in view of tightened surveillance,” the same sources told Echorouk.
  • Security investigations indicated that the GSPC or Al-Qaeda in the Islamic Maghreb gets money by stealing banks or post offices. Money also comes from ransoms in kidnappings.
