GSPC leader Droudkel to be tried in absentia for 11 December 2007 deadly suicide bombings in Algiers

The criminal court of Algiers is to examine as from today the outstanding file pertaining to the ill- fated suicide bombings which targeted the premises of the constitutional council and the UN offices in upper Algiers on December 11th 2007 causing numerous victims.

 

  • The ringleader of the GSPC terrorist group Abdelmalek Droudkel and 13 of his henchmen will be tried in absentia for the carrying out of these heinous attacks.

  • The defendants are still on the run and are being tracked down by the relevant security services.

  • This trial has been put off several times on account of the absence of defense lawyers and the accused themselves.

  • A chieftain of the so-called “Farouk battalion”named Bouzaguaza Abderrahmane, who is believed to be also directly involved in the December 11th 2007 suicide bombings was for his part shot dead in an anti-terrorist operation conducted by security forces in the Boumerdes area in 2009.
