Haaretz: Bouteflika’s decisions in security forces are dramatic changes

Hebrew newspaper Haaretz described Bouteflika’s decisions as « dramatic changes,” talking about reshuffle of security forces and intelligence in Algeria.

Algeria President Abdelaziz Bouteflika made major changes to the security staff including foreign and local security directors General Bachir Tertague and General Rachid Laalali respectively.

Haaretz said Bouteflika’s decisions restructured Algeria’s home security and they are dramatic changes which reached the State’s intelligence system core.

Those changes come to get ready for threats on Algeria and the emergence of new elements such as security threats on southern borders with Mali and eastern ones with Tunisia, it added.

“They also come as part of preparation for the forthcoming presidential elections due to be held in April.”

Israel’s largest newspaper believe that opposition parties in Algeria consider the changes as an anticipated hit to the intelligence effort which wanted to prevent Bouteflika from running for office for a fourth term.
