Hadj Aissa to Echorouk: “I will use my new Saudi club as a springboard to come back to the Algeria squad”
Hadj Aissa
In a telephone conversation with Echorouk from Saudi Arabia, the former player of ES Setif, Hadj Aissa, who has now joined the Saudi club of Itifak dwells on the modalities of his transfer as well as on his ambitions with his new outfit while hoping to join again the Algerian national team as early as possible in expectation of the 2010 World cup contest.
-
Echorouk: The Algerian football fans were expecting to see you embark on a professional career in Europe instead of joining a Saudi club?
-
-
Hadj Aissa: My prime desire was in fact to join a professional European club but I finally opted for the Saudi club of Itifak on account of myriad of reasons.
-
-
-
Echorouk: Why didn’t you sign up with more illustrious Saudi clubs like for instance Itihad Djeddah or El Hilal?
-
-
Hadj Aissa: I should say that I received several offers from several clubs in the Gulf but Itifak’s offer was more interesting and more enticing on all accounts.
-
-
I am intent on fulfilling my contract and making an honorable performance with my new club.
-
-
Echorouk: Tell us now about the negotiating process between your former Algerian club of ES Setif and Itifak’s managers which led to your transfer to Saudi Arabia?
-
-
Hadj Aissa: As a matter of fact, it was a Tunisian manager who had informed me that a Saudi club wanted to recruit me and I entrusted my brother Hamid with undertaking the preliminary contacts.
-
-
Later on, I informed the top manager of ES Setif Abdelhamid Serrar about this offer and asked him to negotiate with the Saudis in Tunis the modalities of my transfer to the Itifak club.
-
-
The 2 sides finally reached an agreement on the broad lines of my contract with the Itifak outfit. But I should point out that I am still waiting for my “letter of release” from ES Setif to be able to play official championship matches with my new team.
-
-
The ES Setif managers are probably awaiting a fund transfer from the Saudi club to send this famous document.
-
-
Echorouk: You took part last Thursday in a friendly match with your new Saudi squad, how was your performance?
-
-
Hadj Aissa: Absolutely, my Bulgarian coach included me in the line-up at the beginning of the second half of the match, and I should say that the coach and the club’s managerial staff as well as the fans were rather satisfied with my performance on the pitch.
-
-
Echorouk: A word now about the national team. Have you watched the recent friendly match between Algeria and Uruguay played on August 12th at the 5th of July Olympic stadium of Algiers?
-
-
Hadj Aissa: Yes, I did watch this international friendly and I should say that the Greens made a very good performance versus the fearsome Uruguayans with a praiseworthy one – nil victory.
-
-
I wish them good luck in the next world cup qualifiers. For my part, I am determined to distinguish myself with my new Saudi club in order to be able to join again my team mates in the national squad as soon as possible.
-
-
Be that as it may, it is my dearest wish in expectation of the 2010 world cup competition in South Africa.
