Half a million new cars brought to Algeria during 9 months

A recent report issued by the Directorate General of Customs, shows an increase in the pace of importing cars in Algeria, as it reached during the nine months of the current year nearly 420.000 cars, while experts predict that it will exceed 600.000 cars at the end of 2012, saying that it is due to the wage increases.

In this context the National Center for Media and Statistics of the Customs explained that Algeria imported 418.665 cars during the first nine months of 2012, compared to 298.816 cars during the same period of 2011, ie a rise of 1.40%, confirming that bill of car imports rose by 77.37%, and moved from 9.266 billion dinars, during the first nine months of 2011 to 7.367 billion dinars, the equivalent to $ 5 billion, during the same period of the current year.

The Centre indicated that the car agencies estimated at 40, which is active at the level of the Algerian market, imported 397.434 cars during the first nine months of 2012, compared to 280.672 cars, increasing with 6.41%, and in terms of value, the value of imports at car agencies reached 03.34 billion dinars, compared to 96.242 billion dinars during the reference period.

According to the same Center, the number of cars that were imported by private agencies went up by 17%, as it moved from 18.144 to 21.231 units.

On the other hand, the value of imported cars and the value of imports of tourist vehicles rose during this period, and moved from 1.549 billion dinars to 2.813 billion dinars.

National Center for Media and Statistics shows that the French cars still at first rank among Algeria’s imports of cars, during the first nine months of the year 2012, having sold nearly 100.000 cars in the same period, worth 73.94 billion dinars, as “Peugeot” cars ranked second with 42.668 cars, then the Korean ” Hyundai ” rank third with 38.937 cars, with a total value of 44.25 billion dinars.
