Health Ministry Provides Latest Figures On Cholera In Algeria

Health, Population and Hospital Reform Ministry reported that, as of August 27, 59 cholera cases were confirmed, confirming 26 negative cases out of 172 cases that were received by hospitals since August, 7.

According to the ministry’s statement, the confirmed cases in the five province belong to Bouira with 3 cases, Balida with 30 cases, Tipaza with 14 cases, Algiers with 11 cases, Medea with one confirmed case, and no other deaths have been recorded except for the two previously announced deaths in Blida.”

All patients were treated at the level of the specialized medical institution Hadi Felissi (El Kettar previously) and Boufarik public institution – according to the same source – which indicated that 66 cases had left the hospital and the remaining cases were undergoing continuous improvement.

For reference, the Health Ministry, which has taken preventive measures to stop the spread of the epidemic, recalls the measures that will be taken by washing hands with soap and clean water several times a day, especially before touching the food and before each meal and after the use of toilets with good washing of vegetables and fruits before consumption and boiling water that is stored with the use of untreated water such as well water, sources and reservoirs.

In case of diarrhea or vomiting, the Ministry advises to go to the nearest health center and re-hydration in large quantity and re hydration with salts with special attention to children and the elderly.
