Health unions warn of further strikes in Algeria
Representatives of public health unions in Algeria warned Tuesday of further strikes and protests after a national 3-day-strike described by the unions as “successful.â€

“Unions will probably go on more strikes throughout the country in the next few weeks. Emergency departments will be touched by the strikes,” president of specialist doctors’ union Mohamed Youcefi told Echorouk.

He also said the main demand of the unions is to open dialogue with the head of government in person and not with health minister.

According to Youcefi, civil service unions will hold a meeting on Wednesday to assess the 3-day-strike.

One million and 600,000 civil servants went on strike Sunday for 3 days for pay raise and basic laws problems.

The Education workers trade Union Unpef also called teachers all over the country to stop teaching for 3 days in support to the strike decision.
