heavy rains kill 10 in Algeria

Recent heavy rains in Algeria killed 10 people and injured 51 others throughout the country, said civil protection authority today in a statement.

• 24 hours of heavy rains and a devastating wind caused several street accidents as well as collapse of roofs and houses mainly in rural areas.
• The provinces of Batna and Mila East of Algeria recorded the largest death toll with 3 each. They also respectively witnessed 7 and 4 injured.
• In the capital Algiers a man was killed under debris of his house in the district of El Biar. Three other people perished in the provinces of Tiaret, Tlemcen and Bouira.
