Hemdani slates 'boring' SPL – but is in no rush to quit Ibrox
Rangers forgotten man Brahim Hemdani last night dismissed the SPL as boring -but revealed he's holding out for a summer move to Spain.
-
Gers are desperate to offload the £16.000 -a-week midfielder whose last appearance was in the UEFA Cup Final eight months ago.
-
With his contract up in June, the former Marseille skipper is free to talk to other clubs. But Hemdani is adamant he is no rush to leave Ibrox during the current transfer window.
-
The 30-year-old Algerian insisted he is happy to kick his heels -while picking up a hefty wage packet- until the summer.
-
Hemdani said; “My contract ends this year and what is certain is I will leave Rangers to look for a new challenge. The scottish league is pretty boring outside of Old Firm games. There is very little real competition and the fact the club didn’t qualify for the Campions League made things worse.
-
“The time is coming for me to leave and begin a new chapter in my career. Spain is the place that really appeals.”
-
Hemdani has made more than 100 for Rangers since joining from the French club in June 2005. He was voted the Ibrox fans’ Player of the Year for 2006-07.
-
Meanwhile, Rangers yesterday confirmed they will appeal Sasa Papac’s sending-off in Saturday’s 3-1 win against Falkirk.
-
The defender was shown a straight red for a challenge on Bairns sub Mark Stewart on the halfway line with whistler Willie Collum ruling the Bosnian guilty of serious foul play.
-
Ibrox gaffer Walter Smith said: “The referee felt there was no intent to play the ball but when you see it there was.
-
“It was a left-sided player on the right side of the pitch and he put his left leg across but committed a foul.” Once the SFA receive the appeal Collum will be asked to review the incident.
-
If he decides he made a mistake the case would be referred to the SFA’s review panel.
-
If Collum stands by his decision Papac will serve a two-match ban – an automatic one-game suspension for the red card and a further game for going over the disciplinary points limit.
-
Falkirk’s Patrick Cregg was also sent off during the Ibrox clash.
