Hervé Renard : “Serrar got in touch with me for a coaching job at the helm of ES Setif”
The former coach of the Zambian national squad, Frenchman Hervé Renard, has said that the top manager of the Algerian first-league squad of ES Setif Abdelhakim Serrar got in touch with him to offer him to be the head coach of his team owing to Renard's praiseworthy past performance at the helm of the technical staff of the Zambia line-up.
- Echorouk’s reporter interviewed on the matter Hervé Renard who dwelt on his future coaching prospects.
- Echorouk : Can you tell us about your contacts with the top manager of the ES Setif club Abdelhakim Serrar?
- Hervé Renard : Actually, I am now in the French southern city of Cannes for a rest. And I am currently studying at will all the job offers made to me including that made by ES Setif’s top manager Abdelhakim Serrar who got in touch with me last week.
- Echorouk : And what about the outcome of these contacts between you and Serrar? Is there anything positive?
- Hervé Renard : Well, we had a frank discussion in the first place but I asked him to give me some more days to ponder on his proposal for coaching his squad.
- I should say that after our first contact, I tried to get into contact again with the ES Setif top manager Serrar but so far to no avail.
- I wanted to shed light with him on some points about the job offer. I sent him an SMS on his mobile phone but I have so far received no reply. But I should say that I have not slammed the door on the ES Setif squad.
- Echorouk : Have you heard about the report saying that the former Algerian international and former midfielder of the French side of AJ Auxerres Moussa Saib is now widely tipped to be the next coach of ES Setif ?
- Hervé Renard : No, I have not heard about that. But, this will be a good thing for the Setif squad because Moussa Saib has a remarkable experience as a seasoned international player in the French first-league championship and as a reliable coach as well.
- But as far as I am concerned, I am always keen to coach ES Setif and I am still awaiting Serrar’s final reply about a possible coaching contract with this prestigious Algerian club. Anyway, life will tell !
