Corroborating sources revealed that Algiers’ criminal court will start focusing as from the next October, on cases linked to terrorism including support terror networks, Iraq based militias as well as adherence to the so called “Salafit Group for Call and Combatâ€.
- This interest shift was driven by the hike of terrorist activities over the last few years, and the slackness of the Algerian judicial apparatus concerning these affairs due to the implementation of the reconciliation policy initiated by the Algerian president that spared a large number of terrorists.
- The same sources said that the court will not rule on some sensitive files including those related to the abduction of the German tourists in which three of the so called “Al Parra” followers were involved.
- The session will tackle several hot files in relation to suicide attacks that targeted strategic Algerian institutions, including the attempt of blowing off a plane at Algiers international airport, in which an engineer at the same company was involved.
- The salient point of this session is the trial in absentia of the son of the former second man of the banned Islamic party, Abdelkahar Benhadj along with other terrorists accused of being part of terrorists groups .
