Ibrahim Hemdani to Echorouk: “I follow the evolution of the Greens with fervour and I will heartily stand by them during their next confrontation versus Egypt”.
Ibrahim Hemdani
In an exclusive interview with the newspaper “Echorouk”, the Algerian International of Scottish squad Glasgow Rangers Ibrahim Hemdani affirmed that he was following with great interest the evolution of the Algeria football team despite his provisional eviction from the line-up by the technical staff on account of his lack of competition with his Scottish outfit.
-
“Echorouk” : To start with, what is the latest news regarding your relationship with your club ?
-
-
“Hemdani” : For the time being, I am striving to regain my place within the team through relentless and hard training.
-
-
“Echorouk” : But, you have been sidelined by the technical staff of Glasgow Rangers since the Mercato ?…
-
-
“Hemdani” : Yes, I have been put on the shelf since the Mercato and put on the list of players to be transferred.
-
-
But, I play now and then with the B team in order to remain in good shape in expectation of better days.
-
-
“Echorouk” : Some sources say that you are now seriously intent on leaving your current outfit by the end of the season… Is this true?
-
-
“Hemdani” : Yes, I am determined to quit Glasgow Rangers at the end of the current season and join another club where I could blossom and demonstrate my footballing capacities without any constraint or pressure.
-
-
“Echorouk” : On this very point, have you already received any offers from other European clubs ?
-
-
“Hemdani” : I prefer to abstain from talking about it for the moment.
-
-
But at the end of the season, I will reveal the names of the clubs which are interested in recruiting me.
-
-
It will be, hopefully, a chance for me to relaunch my sporting career after a series of hassles and mishaps with Glasgow Rangers.
-
-
“Echorouk” : Let’s shift now to the national squad. Are you still in contact with members of the technical staff?
-
-
“Hemdani” : As a matter of fact, I received last March a phone call from national coach Rabah Saâdane who inquired about my situation with the Rangers. He also explained to me why he did not include me in the national line – up because, he said, he wanted only top – notch players who play regularly with their respective clubs.
-
-
Anyway, I understand and respect the choice of the national coach Rabah Saâdane whose sole objective is to bolster and upgrade the performance of the national line – up in expectation of the next World Cup / Africa Cup of Nations qualifiers.
-
-
“Echorouk” : Have you watched the latest qualifier between Algeria and Rwanda played in Kigali ?
-
-
“Hemdani” : Absolutely, I must say that the Fennecs made a good performance versus Rwanda especially during the first – half of the game. They missed several golden opportunities to score.
-
-
Anyway, snatching a point in an away match is quite rewarding and meritorious on account of the grueling competition.
-
-
“Echorouk” : How do you see now the upcoming hot confrontation between Algeria and Egypt slated for June 7th in Blida stadium ?
-
-
“Hemdani” : Actually, this upcoming qualifying match will be a tough one and the Egyptians will come to Blida with the firm intention to win in order to make amends with their public for their mishap at home versus Zambia.
-
-
However, I am firmly confident that the Algerian players will pull out all the stops to carry the day with flying colours versus the Egyptians in order to beef up their chances of qualification for the 2010 World Cup.
