Illegal immigrant and his wife comes back to Algeria to do business with drug

Security forces caught 73 kg of drug and 25 Bangladesh passports with a network specialised in drug smuggling and persons trafficking.

  • Ten people appeared Friday in a court in the province of Oran (west of Algiers). Of them, there was the main suspect’s wife. They are accused of drug trade through an organised criminal group.

  • Earlier in October 2009, Oran’s security forces learnt about the network and started keeping watch on suspect B.A.’s home. He went to Meghnia (west of Algiers) carrying 23 kg of drug. He was arrested and the drugs were seized. An investigation was opened about the rest of the network’s members. Security forces went to Meghnia where another suspect lives. He is a drug smuggler and gets considerable quantities of drug from his brother in Morocco. A halfe of quintal of drug was found in his house. Suspect B.A. illegally immigrated to Spain with his wife in 2,000. He came back to Algeria to do business with drug. His wife is accused of participating in all the operations as he said he transported her and his children on his car loaded with drug.

  • Security forces seized 25 passports of foreigners from Bangladesh nationality. The suspect received them in Sania international airport. He took them to Meghnia so that they can enter Moroccan borders in return of considerable sums. This network used rent cars in the name of other people. Its members rented many houses to facilitate drug distribution. Suspect B.A. admitted that he transported 10 to 20 kg of drug to the provinces of Bejaia, Tebessa and Bordj Bouarreidj (east of Algiers) in return for 7 to 20 million centimes for each charge. The rest of the suspects denied accusations and said they are not involved in any drug trade. Attorney General sought a life sentence to three suspects and 20 years in prison to seven others. They got a 10-15 year-sentence while two of them were acquitted.
